From a Local Host: Week 5 Encourager

8:29 AM

“Do not marvel at this, for an hour is COMING when all who are in the tombs will hear his VOICE and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of LIFE, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of JUDGMENT.” ~John 5:28-29

Dear Bible Bee Participants,

Guess what?! We are now starting Week 5 of our inductive study of John 1-6; just two more weeks to go! The finish line is in sight! Did you know that our lives are also compared to a race with the finish line being death? For the Bible Bee, the finish line is the written test which will test our knowledge and tangibly show us what we have learned during out time sent in the Word. Likewise, at life’s finish line a test awaits us with an omniscient Judge who will separate the good and bad from our lives and reveal the time spent and things done for God’s glory alone.

In this week’s study, we watch Jesus heal a man who had been paralyzed for thirty-eight years, showing Him to be the Master Physician and Healer. However, we also learn that Jesus is the ultimate Judge with all authority to decree eternal life or eternal death. The Bible also tells us the Jesus Christ is our Mediator and Atoning Sacrifice. Our God is a holy and just God, who cannot and will not let sin go unpunished. However, because of His great love for us, God the Father sent Christ, His only Son, to take upon Himself the judgment we deserve and die in our place. This is amazing love!!! Nevertheless, just because the sentence has been served does not mean that we stand before the Judge as innocent. We must first BELIEVE that in Jesus is the forgiveness of sin. For those who believe, Jesus Christ is the Redeemer and defense attorney against our accuser, Satan. The Son of Man is standing before the throne of God declaring “Not guilty!” on all who believe in His name.

So the question of the week is….when you reach your life’s finish line will Jesus be YOUR defense attorney before the throne room of God? Keep pressing on toward the goal as we approach the finish line of this Bible Bee season! May you hear the voice of your Savior and continue in fellowship with your King as your dive into the living Word!

Joyfully in Christ,

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” ~John 5:24

Editor's note: Kristin's family hosts a local bee and her weekly encouragements have been just that--a great encouragement to my family and me.  I hope this will bless you in your study of our amazing Healer and Attorney.  Thank you, Kristin, for sharing this!
