One Year of Blogging + Giveaway

8:26 PM

Today marks one year since I started Sweeter than Honey.  I'm so thankful that God has allowed me to have this blog.  It's been a wonderful way for me to share my love for the Word of God, as well as give tips for those memorizing and studying Scripture, especially Bible Bee contestants.  Blogging has helped me to put my thoughts into words and remind myself of the importance of God's Word.  I'm looking forward to another year of blogging, Lord willing.

To celebrate, I wanted to do a giveaway of one of my favorite books on memorizing Scripture, The $100,000 Word by Daniel Staddon.  Daniel won the National Bible Bee in 2009, its inaugural year. This book shares Daniel's story of competing in the Bible Bee, as well as the lessons that he learned from it.  This book also offers some practical tips for memorizing and studying Scripture.  I read it for the first time two years ago, and the memorization concepts helped me to learn six hundred verses in two months.

Here is how to enter the giveaway (7 possible entries):
  • Comment on this post (1 entry -- mandatory)
  • Memorize 5 verses for 1 entry, or memorize 10 verses for 2 entries.  Please tell me what passage you memorized.
  • Tell me something that you would like to see more posts on in the future (1 entry).
  • Share this post on social media (counts as 2 entries)
  • Follow Sweeter than Honey (1 entry).  If you're already a follower, that counts as an entry.
The giveaway ends on April 29th at 11:59 PM (CST).  If I do not already have your email address and you win the giveaway, please comment with your email address (I won't publish that comment), so that I can send you The $100,000 Word.  Enjoy! :)

Oh, and by the way, if you already have the book, feel free to enter the giveaway.  You can give your extra copy to a friend who might be interested in memorizing Scripture or the Bible Bee.

    I memorized Daniel 8:16-27. :)
And I'm a visual person, so I always love posts with pictures. Posts of study tips are cool too, as well as stories/testimonies.

    1. Sorry about that! Someone else said that one of their comments didn't come through, so I don't know what the problem is.

We have a family blog with more personal posts. Honestly, we haven't done a good job at keeping up with it the past year or so, but we do post occasionally :).

    3. I've noticed that when the cookies are turned off, then the comments don't work. I don't know if this is the case in your situation, but I thought I'd share!

  7. Hi, Anna--

Your blog has been a blessing to me as it's got me thinking more about meditation (and I actually try to do it, too!). Meditation has helped to quiet my spirit at night which is really helpful. :)

As far as suggestions for future posts--it would be fun to see a key word study visualized--maybe a passage you've studied or memorized and then you show us which key words in it stood out to you, or the cross references you chose to study with it (if you happened to do that). I learn a lot when from watching other people share their processes.

I've become a follower of your blog as well. :)

Thank you so much for the opportunity--it is fun and encouraging to see what others have to say as well.
