National Bible Bee Game Recap: Episode 307

1:47 PM

The third Senior semi-final round of the National Bible Bee Game Show aired September 9th at 5:30 PM and on September 12th at 9:30 AM (EDT).  Like the past few weeks, this was a Senior show, which is open to 15 to 18 year-olds.

Meet the three contestants from this episode:

Nathaniel, who is from Pennsylvania, doesn't have a specific favorite verse because so many affect, teach, and remind him.  Nathaniel says that, "whatever you say to others, it's really about you and God; if you're not right with God, nothing else matters."

Bethany is from Florida.  She enjoys playing the piano and violin and uses her musical gifts to serve in the music ministry at her church.  Bible Bee has really united Bethany and her family; they quiz and study with each other and have so much to talk about.

Hannah is from New York.  When she's not studying, she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen to create healthy meals.  About the game show, she says, "No matter how you do, if you keep your eyes on the eternal perspective, then you will have eternal rewards."

Each contestant recited four passages of Scripture and answered three knowledge questions:

Hardest question:
Question: Which three major feasts of Israel required men to be present in Jerusalem?
Answer: The Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Booths, and the Feast of Weeks

Favorite verse:
"And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;"
Revelation 5:9

At the end of the show, the contestants also answered a fourth question, this one worth one thousand points.  This round's question was:

According to Hebrews 12, what is God's discipline supposed to produce in His children?

Nathaniel and Bethany answered, "Peaceable fruit of righteous"; Hannah said, "A spirit of peace".

Both options were correct, and the winner of this round, Hannah, will advance to the final round!

Congratulations to all three of the contestants!
