And the Journey Continues

6:15 AM

Dear Bible Bee qualifiers,

Congratulations!  You have all worked very hard this summer, and your effort has paid off!  Now you get to continue on this Bible Bee road that will lead you to the Alamo, and hopefully to a lifetime of in-depth Bible study.  Our spiritual walk is a journey that is not completed until we see our Maker face to face.  It is our job, however long we live on this earth, to daily walk closer and nearer to our Abba Father, one step at a time.  The National Bible Bee is a tool God uses to propel and/or get us started on this lifelong journey, which is a great and wonderful thing; however, when Bible Bee has run its course we must keep moving onward and upward toward the Author and Perfecter of our faith.  This is the goal of the Bible Bee and one which we must all strive to attain:  a deeper Christian walk, a personal relationship with our loving Father, and a lifelong habit of daily studying the WORD of God.

So as we get started on the national stretch of this year’s Bible Bee competition, let’s keep this goal in view.  The passage we’ll be studying for the next twelve weeks is John 7-12, but let’s review some of what we’ve learned so far.  In the first six chapters, we discovered that Jesus is the WORD, the Savior of the world, the Son of God, the Living Water, the Ultimate Judge, and the Bread of Life.   And as we dive into the next six chapters of John, we will uncover more great and marvelous treasures about the Light of the world.  Are you ready and excited to resume studying the book of John?!  I know I am!

However, before we get started on this new segment of Bible Bee, I’d like to ask you this question….what is YOUR mindset as you enter into this time with God’s WORD?   Are you trying to acquire facts in order to do well on a test, or are you seeking to know more about and walk in deeper fellowship with your Savior and Redeemer?

Let’s be vigilant to keep our minds and hearts focused on the right thing so that we don’t make the mistake of intensively studying the Word of God and yet missing the God of the Word.  So walk with faithfulness this new, more difficult path of the Bible Bee journey and keep your eyes focused on the One whom you’re doing it all for and who is the great I AM!

Joyfully in Christ,
Kristin

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”   ~Hebrews 12:1-2

Editor's note: Kristin and her family hosted a local bee this summer.  Now, as Nationals study begins, she will be continuing to encourage families in their pursuit, not of prizes or fame, but of a deeper relationship with the Savior.  You can read her weekly encouragers here on the blog.

  1. This is *so* true, thank you for the reminder. Sadly, our minds are easily turned off of Jesus Christ and we begin to simply study the precious Word for the sake of knowing it for the test. But that should not be so. Rather, CHRIST should be the ultimate aim of our time studying and preparing. Thank you for reminding us of this truth.
