From a Local Host: Week 6 Encourager

7:58 AM

Dear Bible Bee-ers,

In this FINAL week of our study, we will discover the life-giving bread which the Father gives to all who hunger for it. Have you ever gotten hungry? I know I have! So when your stomach starts growling and letting you know that it needs filling, what do you do? You feed it! In the same way, God has created within man an eternal soul that also needs constant feeding. However, this eternal soul requires spiritual food and not physical nutrition. But where can we find this food for our souls? It is found in the person of Jesus Christ, the Passover Lamb, the Living Water, our Savior, the Promised Messiah, and the Son of God.

John 6 tells us that those who fully partake of this Living Bread will have eternal life. When we fill ourselves with earthly bread, it satisfies our bodies’ needs for the moment but does nothing to preserve our lives. However, the Bread that comes from heaven not only fully satisfies but also saves our souls. But in order for this Bread to feed our souls, we must partake fully of it, as Jesus said, “If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever.” In the physical realm, how does one eat? Do we do it be bringing food in front of us and staring at it for a while? No! We take it, chew it, and then digest the food thoroughly. Likewise, we cannot eat of the Living Bread by merely bringing it before us and observing it; we must take hold of it, meditate on it, and try to absorb all the nutrients it has to give us. And just as our physical bodies require daily nourishment, so also our eternal souls need consistent, daily feeding in order to continue to grow in spiritual wisdom and maturity, therefore, continue to faithfully nourish your spirit with the Bread from heaven freely given to us!

So the question of the week is….have you partaken fully of the Living Bread that gives eternal life and will you continue to do so?

You are on the home stretch! Don’t give up; keep pressing on because the finish line is in sight! And as you persevere, may our loving Father strengthen you with the drive you need and fill you with His Living Bread!

Joyfully in Christ,
Kristin

“For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” ~John 6:40

Editor's note: Kristin's family hosts a local bee and her weekly encouragements have been just that--a great encouragement to my family and me.  You can read last week's encourager here.  Thank you, Kristin, for sharing this!
