Meet the four contestants from this episode:

Hannah is from Racine, Wisconsin.  She enjoys knitting and watching NFL football, especially the Indianapolis Colts.  Hannah says that her family is extremely supportive; she could not have done Bible Bee without them.

David, from Kansas City, Missouri, is the fifth of seven children.  David enjoys woodworking, most lately a turkey for Thanksgiving.  He says, “It’s not about what you do; it’s about glorifying God while you do it.”

Marie is also from Missouri, O’Fallon to be exact.  She didn’t think memorizing an entire book of the Bible was even possible; now she’s living proof that it is!  When Marie isn’t memorizing, she enjoys playing the guitar and piano and putting on plays with her siblings.

Johnny, from Altamonte Springs, Florida, rounds out the foursome.  Johnny enjoys soccer, going to the beach with his family, and improv.  He is studying Japanese and wants to be a missionary to Japan someday.

Each contestant was required to recite three passages of Scripture and answer three knowledge questions.

Hardest question:

Question:   In the book of Nahum, what farming tool does God use to describe the Assyrians’ oppression of Israel?
Answer:  A yoke

Favorite verse:

There was also an inscription over him, “This is the King of the Jews.”  One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Luke 23:38-43

At the end of the show, the two contestants with the highest scores are announced.  Hannah and Johnny will advance to the semi-final round.  David and Marie are still eligible for a producer’s wildcard position in the semi-final competition.

Congratulations to all four of the contestants for their hard work!
